What is the MOTO-BUNKA Film Festival?
Last year, 31 videos were entered from all over Japan, and 10 selected videos were screened at the movie theater! Over 300 people attended the event.
After the screening, an award ceremony for BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR, CREATIVE VIDEO OF THE YEAR, and BEST CLIP OF THE YEAR voted by the MBFF official judges was held 🏆
This year, the competition will expand from Japan to Asia with the addition of the new FLATLAND VIDEO OF THE YEAR award 🏆
Q. When and where will the 2024 event be?
The film festival will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Like last year, the festival will be held at one of the largest movie theater in Tokyo, which can accommodate 450 people, and the MOTO-CUP ASIA will be held the following day!

Q. Are there any rules regarding the length (time) of the video to be submitted?
▶︎BMX video of more than 3 minutes and less than 6 minutes are requested.
Q. Can I use footage that I have released in the past?
▶︎We are unable to determine whether or not the video has been released to the public, so even if the video includes footage that has been released in the past, it will still be considered for review.
However, given that this is a video contest, we basically ask that the video be something that has not been released in the past. (For example, a video shot last year or three years ago is also acceptable.

Q. If it is mainly BMX but includes footage of local skaters, is it not eligible in terms of judging criteria?
▶︎If your video contains footage of not only skaters but also other genres, it will still be considered for judging, but it will be judged as a BMX video based on the premise that it is a BMX video contest.
Q. Is there a video format (size or file format) for submissions?
▶︎Basically, we do not have any specifications.
We can handle any size and file format, but since movie theater screens are horizontal, we recommend that you use a horizontal format such as 16:9.
The final format is converted to the screening format by the operator and shown in movie theaters.
DCP standard: 1920 x 1080 24 frames
Q. Can I use copyrighted music in my video?
▶︎There are no restrictions on the music you may use in your video, however, please use music at your own risk.
Please obtain permission from the creator or rights management organization before using copyrighted material.
The organizers of the festival will not be held responsible for any problems that may arise in relation to copyrights.
Q. Can I bring my child to this event?
▶︎Many parents and children have attended the past three cinema events. We plan to sell tickets for the screening on our online site at a later date. Of course, non-BMX riders will be able to purchase tickets for the screenings as we will be selling tickets to the general public.
Q. Are only Japanese nationals eligible to participate in the video contest?
▶︎This year’s event has been expanded in size and riders from Asian countries can also enter!
Q. Can I enter both as an individual and as a group?
▶︎Possible.
Q. Will you make DVDs of the screened videos?
▶︎MBFF 2024 DVDs of all submitted footage will be sold at the theater after the screening on the day of the festival.
*Proceeds from the sale of DVDs and other products will be used to cover the operating expenses of the MOTO-BUNKA Film Festival.
Q. Can I put credits or a logo image at the end of the video?
▶︎Yes, you can.
You are free to include any information you like, such as supported~ or the photographer’s name.
Q. Regarding the screening process
▶︎A large number of people, including national and international professional BMX riders and people in the BMX industry, will vote for their favorite videos. Based on the number of votes, 10 videos will be selected to be screened, and the winning videos will be further chosen.
With the addition of the new Flatland category, the number of official MBFF judges will be increased.
The rules and regulations for entry will be published again in the entry format.
